Course outline
An expert witness’s report is a vital element in litigation. It must be clear, succinct, independent and well presented.
Many experts develop their own report-writing style or adopt other people’s, but have rarely received constructive feedback from lawyers on what is required from their written evidence.
This course explores what lawyers and the courts expect and require from an expert witness’s report. You will learn how to assess your own and other experts’ reports and produce reports quickly and consistently that are court-compliant and can withstand cross-examination.
The training also addresses best practice principles for producing court letters and reports.
Key learning outcomes
- Identify the issues to be addressed in your report.
- Use a structured approach to preparation and writing.
- Express an independent view and argue your conclusion.
- Handle supporting information.
- Develop an objective and critical eye in relation to your report.
- Insulate your report against cross-examination.
- Deal with procedural requirements, including the Expert’s Declarations.
Who is it suitable for?
